sedan or hardtop?

I see a LOT of descriptions, from media, to sales pitches use the term "sport coupe" to describe practically anything.

What does Hamtramck Historical say?

Even more amazing is that it's called a sports coupe even though there's nothing sporty about it at all. Nice car though.

That be it...only I remember it being a lighter color pink. It was a good car and dad drove the snot out of it. It was also my first car to drive when I was around 8

many people prefer the Post Coupes, allegedly a bit stiffer body

I like the hardtop, having all the glass rolled down.. but then I'm a little biased LOL. The kids like it when they ride back there, that way they can wave at the fords when we roar past..You guys are correct that they offered the hardtop after mid year in 68, this was the same time they added the decor package option (chrome grille with the brushed aluminum tail panel). I was always told, all other things being equal, the coups would quarter mile a little quicker because they were stiffer... But maybe that's just an old uncle's tale..

Actually, the decor package was offered when the only body was the coupe. I took delivery of my new Runner in April '68, with the decor package ($100. option!) but the Hard Top wasn't out yet - at least in Canada.

Great info guys! I had forgotten all about 40+ years ago, my '68 had the pop-out rear windows!
On another note....could someone measure the length and width of their either '68, or '69 Roadrunner?
I have a brand new enclosed trailer for the hotrod, and not sure if a Roadrunner will fit in it, and if not, will sell with the hot rod.
thanks

I like hardtop, but the rear windows can be a real pain in the ***.

Coupe! The Decor package was available with the earlier '68 RR Coupes.

Sedans are 4 doors. Coupes are post, Hardtops are postless. The coupes are most definitely stiffer with less torsional twist. The coupes are my preferred choice.
Post Toasties!

In the automotive parlance any car with a pillar is a sedan even if it was a two door. The coup name was from years ago when there was a front seat only cars. But that coup name has been used in other cars such as that four door hardtop/"flat top" that GM sold in 59/60. The Chevy was designated a "Sport Coup." "Post?" What the hell is a post? (sarcasm)

Back in the day a lot of people opted for a post car because they were tighter and a lot of America's roads were still gravel. This meant less rattles and dust. I myself like the looks of a hardtop especially with all the glass down.

Was putting my old car brochures together to put in the car and thought I'd put this thread to rest once and for all. Here's what Chrysler called them!! :D

My 68 fit in my enclosed with no problem.
