any advice on how i can make my steering wheel look less dull? It’s black with no major issues, it just has a old, sub worn look to it.

Look on youtube. I'm sure someone has a video on it. I had a badly cracked wheel that I restored.. But this is not the type of resto you are looking for. This guy is pretty good with stuff he does.. Havent watched this video but its about restoration of a wheel.

I used Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric coating on my steering wheel and it came out very nice. How well it holds up is yet to be tested as I'm still in the restoration phases. I changed from gold to black color so it took a LOT of cleaning and several light coats of the coating but the result was worth the investment. Here are before and after photos.

I seem to recall a trick that I heard about somewhere, where you could use a heat gun on a lower setting (with lots of caution) and it would bring back the natural shine to worn or faded plastics.

Here's a video:

Interesting video, but if you haven't noticed, the heat gun makes streaks on the vinyl and that looks terrible to me.

This is the wheel I did. Nothing special as far as paint. I used Por15 epoxy putty but kinda did it the same as the video above.

Might be time to consider a wheel of your choice. If driven daily, nice to have less dish and better grip. This is a Momo Johnny Player Special given to me. The Grant GT cheapie that preceded it was fine too.

I did notice that.

I'm not sure if it was a given result of heating it, or because he was kind of rushing through it for the video. I'd be curious if you were more careful and overlapped the 'strokes' more, would it even out.
