Anyone done any, what's involved, pitfalls. Well I know what's involved, just interested if anyone's done it in a home mechanic environment .

I've done turbos
50 POUNDS of boost, stock block, head, crank
however the easiest is one turbo hung out on the exhaust behind the motor
works well on your typical low compression smog motor
you can plumb for intercooler
response time is not great
plumbing for twin turbos somewhere in the engine compartment takes real fab ability and dedication
There are several sites that specialize in turbos
take a look and get back

We've done our own 360 with truck manifolds turned around backward. Even ran it on a stock 1991 360 with only forged pistons and a reground stock hyd roller. You need to figure out the plumbing, what type of waste gate. We run no intercooler, blow thru carb, and use E85 for fuel. It requires a lot of thought and design but not impossible. Our first time at the track netted a 10.99 with a 2.76 gear@3800lbs+. With a learning curve , Eddy heads, bigger cam, 3.55 it's been 9.55@142@3775lbs.

Very do-able in a home mechanic environment. I used mechanics tools,a mig welder, and a grinder essentially to twin turbo my 440, with a front mount intercooler.
I used a variety of 16 gauge aluminized tubing bends for the piping.

I regret not making the whole hot side from scratch, I incorporated some e-bay stainless headers and flipped them upside down as part of the hotside. If I did it again I would try to incorporate some stock cast iron exhaust manifods or buy some header flanges to start with. Also considered welding my wastegates to my turbines, but did not have a tig (I have never tig'd anyway) so decided not to, I should have just gone to a welding shop. Also, the oil feed lines to the turbos leaked, the hose could not handle the temp conduction through the oil fitting from the turbo, so I would recommend steel tubing to start with for your oil feed line(s). In my 74 clonerunner A hemi vacuum booster may have made it easier to fit my drivers side 3" downpipe as well.

It works well as it is, but I plan in the future to re -do the hot-side sometime, with the Wastegate attached to the turbines and then dumping right into the downpipe, It will make everything so much simpler, and look cleaner.

Do you think the truck iron center dump exhausts would work upside down?
You don't need no stinking booster- just a small bore manual

I had a shop do most of mine but I plan on doing my other car myself. I'm not a professional welder by any stretch of the imagination so finished product may not be as nice but would certainly be cheaper and more rewarding.

Nice!, A Turbo'ed, Fuel injected, Wagon. I like it. When b body trunk space is not enough, you need to step up to a wagon.

lol thanks. I got the bug for wagons early and bought that car when I was 13. Didn't do much to it for years and just got this setup together a few months ago.
