My go-to calculator for many years was an HP 15C. I liked the reverse logic (example--2-enter 2+ gave 4). The other thing I miss is the tactile feel of the buttons. A proper feel that doesn't require looking at the screen.
It went through the washing machine one day and after drying it out it came back to life to successfully pass a self-diagnosis test but became a fast battery eater.

Excellent machine! Bought mine in '87 but hardly ever used these days. Seems to be working fine. Then too, I haven't sent it through the wash............ yet!

Remember anything with batteries that you don't use often remove them, they can leak!

I almost got kicked out of school for bringing a Texas Instruments desktop calculator to school...in 1975. We were told not to bring them because we had to learn it in our heads.

I had to same thing over here , 1976 . we were not suppose to bring the time ( last) to school at all

Bought at 60 sold at 90 and lost 10 along the way stuck 20 in his pocket.

Our son is fortunate that he is a math genius and never really had to count on gadgets to get it done. He says that he literally can see the solution both in his head and in the air in front of him. He follows along with the teacher as she writes on the blackboard and solves it as she's writing it. Must be true as he's now 25 and a physicist. I'm fortunate in that I never had to help him with his homework!

I was gonna say you guys who claim to have had LCD display calculators either paid big bucks or maybe are "remembering" a bit too early. LED was the thing until the very very late 70's.
