My parents have been married 33 years yesterday. My momma has always wanted a 1965 mustang. She loves old cars but this has always been a dream car for her. They made a ton of them and nothing real special ( my opinion) about them. But I’ve been looking around for one locally. I talked to my dad and he said under 10k. Well I found one the other day made the deal and we brought it home today. Good bit less than his 10k. It’s not perfect, but I’m so glad my mom finally got her dream car and I got to play a part. She was shocked. Never saw it coming. I took my 9 year old son along and when we started it up he said “ that sounds awesome!!” So I’ll be doing some work on the only ford in the whole family, while working on my charger and my dad’s challenger. Going to try and have everything ready for Crusin the Coast this year.

You are a good man!

Car did good. Got a little cam in it. I drove it back home about 90 miles and no issues. Got a oil leak and I think the timing is a little off. But otherwise I’m happy with it. My dad is happy with it. And once Momma fully gets over her heart issues she’ll enjoy it I hope.

FORD DID bag the World Manufacturers Championship,
GT-40 sacking Ferrari.....3 times if one includes Shelby American's win in class with the Daytona Coupe........just sayin......

Nice car. That is an awesome gift! I do love an 65-67 mustang. I know your Mom is beside herself.

We’ve missed cruisin the coast for the last few years. Last year my wife and I were going to ride down in her jeep just to check out the cars and they cut the week short due to weather. But this year we’re planning on going early in the week. It’s an awesome time and my son has never been so we’re hoping we’ll get to take him this year too.

Crusin the Coast is the pinnacle of my classic car activities. I have been going a day or 2 since the beginning, but once we got our current cars, I decided to go for the whole week. I hadn't had a vacation in 4 or 5 years and really needed one badly. So having just got my car and my wife's GTO a month earlier, it was a great opportunity to stay the week. That was 4 years ago. We even bought a lot off the beach down there to have a base of operations and as an investment.
Staying the whole week is like a time machine, taking me back to my high school days in the 70s and feels like cruising the Lakefront in New Orleans and what that was like back then. I have met a number of people who are friends now, the weather is usually some of the best of the entire year, and there is more to do than even an entire week can encompass.
Anyone who goes should do their best to stay as long as possible to really immerse yourself in the experience.
Wednesday evening is an open 1/4 mile "test and tune" night at Gulfport Dragway as well, so setting up a grudge race or two shouldn't be difficult to do.
Anyone who plans on going PM me as the end of September gets close, or sooner if you have questions. The momentum really builds from Wednesday on, so if you can't stay the whole week, the last half of the week and the Saturday at the end of that week is the best!!

Least I can do. My parents have done so much for me over the years. I try to give back to them as much as I can. Especially since I wasn’t the best kid coming up....
