Ive been hunting for a good 440 core in town and so only came up with one block and a core engine the guy wants 250 for the block that looks like it was sitting at the bottom of a lake and the core is 700 they are both 77 motors thanks guys

They go for $500. - $550. cleaned and magnafluxed around here.

the last one I bought a couple years ago I paid 100.00 , complete needing a rebuild. 500 for just a block is just stupid. they go for 500-600 complete , and some even running around here. but you always get the people that think the blocks are cast from gold bars.

Yeah im having a hell of a time finding one in vegas

Check with the machine shops in your area sometimes people bring in stuff but don’t pick it up. A friend got one that way.

Pricing depends on availability where a guy is I guess ?

Around these parts "good" cores are getting very difficult to find ? let be when you do and dis-assemble only to find already .030"/.040" or even .060" over ?
or,
buy bare blocks with std Bores, then only to find main caps from something else, rusty bottom dwellers, cracked/broken ears, and on and on.

A few years ago, we used to stock 440 & 400 cores as part of the Business in offering BB Mopar builds, but with a core "exchange" requirement of equal prior Bore, and we placed a VERY Hefty $2K price on our cores having been thoroughly cleaned/checked over, Mag'd, Sonic Tested, etc., etc.
The whole idea being we did NOT want the money, nor to have to charge the $2K .... we wanted GOOD Cores returned BACK !
Well, you guessed it....
How many times do you dis-assemble the returning "cores" from Customers only to find JUNK.... and it was NOT good Business to then insist upon the $2,000 Core Charge be paid by long term repeat Customers.
So eventually all our "good" cores got depleted, with the returning JUNK Blocks filling the metal bin, and with us eating the time over and over again until done.

Morale of the story....
Make sure it's GOOD before you pay for it... no matter what you PAY !

Paid 400 for a standard bore 440, was slim pickings and I needed a block to get to the machine shop. Also picked up a 77 440 block main caps and 727 for 200

I know You never want to feel like you over spent or anything but what’s a couple hundred bucks on top of an entire build. I assume you checked scrap yards etc for a motor home 440?

You pay the freight + 400 i'll ship you a known good motor 1974 440 from a motorhome, has the cylinder heads and valvetrain and crank, water pump, intake, oil pan etc. Needs a oil pickup, a carb, and a dizzy an wires.and valve covers.

Seem to be $300-1200 around here depending on year and any other parts included.

I so regret not pulling the trigger but about 2 years ago I knew of a scrap/salvage yard that had 29 big blocks. Yes, 29. 383's,400's,413's and 440's engines between $100-$300 each. Mostly 440's, but I had to buy them all. One, I didn't have the money to spare and two, didn't have the room for 29 engines. Tax season came, had some extra money, went to buy them but they scrapped them all already.

If you are doing floor pans etc, any big block Mopar should work for you to do a mock up.....
