Im in the midst of a 4 speed swap on my 69 Charger.

Getting ready to weld in the pivot bracket.

I have it located no problem, but theres a small tab sticking off the bottom of the backside of the bracket which lifts it up a little and will make it hard to weld on the sides as theres a good sized gap.

Just looking for advice from anyone else thats welded one of these on.

Did you grind the tab off so the bracket would sit flush, or just weld in the location of the tab or ????

Thanks for any help.

Hi Plum70. Is there 2 or 3 holes through the brkt. about 5/16 or so in dia. that you bolt the brkt. to the inner fender area? I used flat shim washers behind said brkt to stand off the distance of the tab. I'm not sure how the factory located and mntd these brackets even though I've seen many. I like the idea of being able to remove it to drop the Z linkage easier than on the bell housing side.

The ones that bolt to inner fender stopped in 1965.

Here’s a pic
You can see the tab sticking down along the back edge

Wonder if your suppose to cut a slot in frame rail for it to go in? A few 1/8 inch holes would do it.

I would think the tab on the bracket was to locate it. No slot in the frame? Do you know exactly where it goes? Cut the tab off and weld it where it belongs.

Where did you buy that bracket ? Manufacturer ? I've done a couple and they were not like that.

It came as part of a kit off ebay.
Thanks for the tip off.
Did some research, and looks like the tab is a locator on 71-4 b bodies and not used on 66-70.
So I'll be grinding off.
Thanks for the help!
