440 shuts off as soon as I put in gear

I have a 440 Satelite with a factory electronic ignition, ive set the timing and it runs strong while in park. As soon as I put it in gear it stalls without hesitation.
 
Lots of possibilities but that could be a sign of a big vacuum leak.
 
Welcome to the forum. A little more info and we're happy to help.First check all your vacuum hoses, including to the power brake booster if so.
 
Lots of possibilities...vacuum leak like others have said, too low idle speed, big cam with a stock converter...

Does it restart right away ?
 
Welcome from North Carolina. A little more info will help. What is your idle RPM in park? Vacuum advance or mechanical? What is your initial timing set at?

This is usually caused by a lean mixture situation where the engine can't overcome the load put on it by the torque converter so it just pukes. All the suggestions above are correct so you need to find out why your A/F ratio is anemic. There are a lot of variables here so I'd start with vacuum leaks, then timing and finally carb especially the mixture screws.
