I was replacing my pulling my 4 speed transmission in my 1969 roadrunner with a later model 440 engine and this part dropped while I was pulling my scatter shield?? Anyone know what and where it goes?

Looks like some sort of offset dowel thingy?

I looked that part up! A 1969 offset dowel thingy didn’t come back with a part number? Wonder why?

I know. It has been trimmed for clearance a little bit, but that piece is used on a Lakewood scattershield when you run the 10-1/2"-style flywheel (slightly smaller diameter than the 11" style flywheel). It is used to offset the lower starter bolt.

I thought it came from the starter area! I will check that out. Thanks for your response. It’s an offset dowel thingy for a starter on a scatter-shield. When I get my new clutch in and installed I will fill you in and take pictures of final install of that piece. Wish me luck.

Awww....you got this one, no problem. Where the bottom starter bolt goes, you bolt in that piece & put the dowel end into the lower starter hole. The top starter bolt/hole just uses a bolt in its normal location. The original top Lakewood bolt has a hex-head for an allen wrench. For both top/bottom bolts, I have the nuts towards the back of the car. I "think" I did have to put one extra washer on the top or bottom bolt (can't remember) so everything sat flush on my latest Lakewood (first Lakewood saved my foot in a clutch explosion, fyi). If you get stuck I can send you a picture. Oh, and don't forget the little starter "nose locator"
