The "correct" way is to spray it from below with no masking whatsoever. From what I've seen it might also help if you did it with your eyes closed! Personally, I would do it like the green car. I couldn't stand having it hap-hazard like the factory did it.im getting ready to do the rad support blackout on my 69 roadrunner. Can someone tell me if the pic of the yellow car is correct. My car is the red pic. Is it correct to not black out the top support bar? Thanks in advance

The factory did not tape anything on it. It was applied to black out what could be seen behind the grill but since you have a repaint anyway, I would keep it clean instead of trying to duplicate what mother did.I looked at mine and it looks like I'll have to remove the grill, do to limited space, but I have another question. Does the black out stop at the radiator support or does it wrap around to the inner fender (if I'm explaining it correctly), and if it stops at the support end, does THAT get taped off or is that also just get some over spray?
Your car looks nice and clean! Do you have a pic of the whole car?The first picture you posted is my car. (70 Satellite)
Don't pay any attention to it as nothing on it is correct...
Nice job. Sharp looking car

Thanks Bill, I think that answers my question. The factory did not tape anything on it. It was applied to black out what could be seen behind the grill
Something to ponder, but I do kind of like that blacked out look.but since you have a repaint anyway, I would keep it clean instead of trying to duplicate what mother did.
