My friend is looking at a GTX as stated above. He sent me a link to the car. I was noticing it has a 22 inch radiator. It being a 440 4 speed would that be a correct radiator? Hes not all about numbers matching however I happened to notice it. Just wondering if they offered the 22 with the 440 thats all.

I dont know but you could look up radiators on yearone for the car.

all gtx were 26 inch cores i would check the core support and see if it is a 26 inch core support or see if it had a repair done in the past with a 22

They came with 22 or 26 inch. Depends on A/C or none, performance axle or not etc...

No...26" only for 440/426 4 Spd cars

as Rick said check the core support opening.....

If it's an original automatic trans car, standard radiator is 22 inch wide. If axle package car or 4-speed it got 26 inch radiator. Yes, auto a/c cars got 26 inch radiator also.

Its a 440 4speed with a dana 60 Non AC car.
Again...26" only......

Either someone replaced the radiator with the incorrect one......or you have a 22" core support....if 22" core support you have better start checking ALL numbers......

Or replaced the automatic with a four speed.

Wrong. My original and rusty 69 GTX auto 22" radiator yolk (above) and the replacement for a 26" (below)

For 1969, the 22” 053 radiator was standard with the 440 automatic in the Charger or Coronet R/T and the GTX.

Adding any axle package, a/c, or the towing package upgraded the radiator to the 26” 054 or 055.

So with a Dana 60 it should be a 26 inch radiator? Regular 8 3/4 got the 22? What about a 8 3/4 with sure grip I assume that is an upgraded axle also.

Dana 60 would come with the 26. 8 3/4 standard would be 22". I dont remember on the suregrip but as the gears got lower than 3:23 i believe is where it was upgraded to the 26".

Completely off topic..........but, my friend had a 69 GTX 4 speed. It just doesn't get much more fun than that.

Correct if one got a 3.91 you got power brakes and the 26" radiator....
