Hey, everyone! I'll admit, I've been creeping on the site for a while and have found tons of great info! I did introduce myself years ago then disappeared. But, I am actually working on my car now! 1970 GTX. It sat in a shed on my uncles farm for many years and I finally bit the bullet and got it out of there! I am not a paint and body guy so I elected to hire that part out. I will try to tackle the rest myself. There is a story to the car but I am going to get some pics up first. Somewhat chronologically...

Good luck.

Welcome to your new obsession man! Good luck with the resto and remember, the search bar is your friend! Lol

Thanks for the pics T. Look forward to seeing the progress you’ve made and reading about the story behind the car. Looks like a nice project.

Welcome! I love that year, and the colour is awesome!
I have to admit that when I saw the thread title I thought it was another chance to kick R Kelly around and I jumped right in...

Awesome car! Looking forward to the story of the car as well as the resto. What's great is you're keeping it in the family.

Just let me echo the prior postings and Thanks for joining the FBBO. Welcome from the Pacific Northwest..

Ha Ha!! Naturally, anyone would jump at that!

Welcome to FBBO from SoCal - another X owner here. Keep us up to speed with your project.

Ok, so I'll tell a little story here then probably start a build thread...
My dad bought this GTX in the late 80's. He stripped it down to a shell to restore it then promptly moved From North Dakota to Florida leaving the body and motor behind and taking everything else with him. The car sat for 10 some years until I finally got the title from him!! Happy day, indeed!! I drove to Florida and we packed up all the parts and shipped them back. Bumpers, hood, wheels, interior, glass and much more. I spent the next few years putting everything together to have fun with the car until I could afford a restoration. Being the ripe old age of about 25 I promptly smashed it into a tree. A little to much car for a kid, maybe?? Going fast on a curvy road I jumped the curb and hit a tree head on. Good thing it came out of the ground or I most likely would not be writing this right now! So, the car goes back to the shed on the farm for another 15 or so years... I moved around alot and never had a garage but always kept my eye out for parts. I found a air grabber hood, bumper and an entire front clip with the radiator support inner fenders and frame rails all still together. A couple years ago I noticed I had a bit of money but still no garage but thought I had a chance to get some work done on the car if I kicked myself in the *** a bit. I called Muscle Car Restorations in Wisconsin and they had a year wait list to get in. I said 'Sign me up!' Awesome!!! The GTX is going to get fixed!! I'm pretty handy but the repairs needed were beyond my ability and I wanted it done right. It looked like these guys knew exactly what they were doing. I brought the car to them in April of last year. It was an emotional trip! I think I had the biggest smile face I've ever had and it would not leave!!! So, they have been at it for almost a year and it is almost ready for paint. The GTX is looking awesome again! I can't wait to see some color on it. The original limelight green!

Welcome from NW CT. Holy F look at that K-frame!! Trees don't really move much, do they?! Great project - can't wait to see how it progresses man...

Welcome, great looking project. Try to save the radiator support numbers. Don't lose the fender tag or built sheets.
