It's Pothole season in NYC

THe infrastructure in this country is truly going to hell. We really need to do something to fix that. Our parents built this set-up why is our generation ruining it? Bridges, roads, dams it’s endless but we have to get our asses in gear.

I worked at the rail yard on 14th and western for a few Years, sitting at the light on 15th street headed to work one day and a pick up clipped the column making that sharp turn. the way that thing crumbled was amazing, walk under any bridge in Chicago and look up and I guarantee youll run out of there due to fear of the thing collapsing. Pathetic what the you know who’s that run the city turned that place into.
Agreed....Dailey & Dailey Jr. were both crooked as hell. Rohm doesn't seem crooked, but he never seemed to be all that good of a mayor

Don’t worry , just around the corner coming to a town near you this spring

Why are there tolls at bridges and some roads yet the roads are not perfect? We pay gas taxes too, right? Where does the money go? How much makes it into the State General fund to support FREE **** for losers that will not work?

It is something driving around WI right now , as I live out in the cow pasture , no tolls here

Man it’s been a brutal few months , and it shows every day driving getting to the major highways

It sure seems like our roads are falling apart all over the country. Chicago looks like the pictures of New York. I've read that we have a huge percentage of our bridges 50+ yrs. old that aren't safe anymore either. We need some investment in our infrastructure, don't you think?
Gas tax going up in Ohio,.10 cents per gal. New governor wanted .18.

Don't worry Trump will build a wall before he fixes your roads

Well, in Chicago gasoline prices are typically some of the highest in the USA (& some of the highest taxes). Our roads are among the worst. The City of Chicago is broke. There are two main problems. 1. The police, fire dept, teachers & city employees have a super sweetheart deal on a pension plan. Many of them are retired & the fund cannot support them. 2. The ex Mayor Dailey Sr. negotiated these pensions (rumors are he was involved with unions & the mob) & ex Mayor Dailey Jr. (his son) SOLD the rights to Chicago's tollways & Chicago's parking to private companies, so all that revenue no longer belongs to Chicago. fyi- parking in Chicago used to be 25-cents/hour & immediately went to $2/hr. when Dailey Jr. sold all the parking spaces).

In Chicago you pay the Federal fuel tax + the State fuel tax + the City fuel tax + if you live within a couple miles of Wrigley Field or Comiski Park (Cubs/Sox) you pay an ADDITIONAL fuel tax.....crazy. And there are potholes everywhere. Side streets don't even get plowed when it snows....crazy.

The real problem is every time more money comes in “they” find something new&fantastic to spend the money on. Ongoing maintenance is always at bottom of things to do.

I can only wish somebody could explain to another that the conditions of roadways at least here isn't because of the evil government giving money to people who dont work. The same old same old nonsense.
Roadways here are heavily traveled and are so by big vehicles carrying heavy loads and millions of cars takes a toll.
Water seeps into roadway cracks and freezes resulting in holes.
Its simple wear and tear and with so many of miles of roadways it takes time to fix, especially when the work cant be done in the middle of the winter. As the weather turns warmer, in just a few weeks road milling will take place and new asphalt will be put down.

Look to the people that actually control the spending
in your own state, county & shitty's (cities)

follow the $$$,
also whose the leadership, that are in power/control
that controls & pulls the purse strings
it always leads to the real culprits & facts/truth

the new majority won't do **** to cure it either
just tax & spend on frivolous BS, pet projects
& never what really needs it

do any of you live in Pa?
i went thru there last 2 days and was Staggered at the gas price difference between ny and pa.
i stopped at the Res,and it was 235 a gallon.tanked up.
less than 10 mins later in Pa,the gas prices were 275-to- 279!! a gallon,
and Stayed that way thru the state....wth?? is up with that?

i thought Pa had the cheaper prices for years?

and btw Kern,
Great point about how they Divert the gas and toll money to the " general " fund instead of applying it specificly.
that shouldnt even be allowed to be diverted in the first place imo.
