Are they still out there ? are the $500.00~$1000.00 car deals all gone?

I say yes, but it's hard to find a complete car for that price. Also a popular car would be tough. I got a 71 Chrysler Newport 2 door for $125 that was complete. Also a 72 dart 2 door complete and a 71 Charger less engine and trans for $1600 for both. This car in the photo was on CL for $3000.A complete running and driving car with fresh built engine, zero rust. The guy said he figured it would cost way too much to complete and was moving anyway.Brought it home for $1700.Could have got it for $1500 but I payed up for the new Optmia battery he bought.

i think a 1000 is too low,all you get for that is a rotter or a shell out here in the east.
at best,a decent 4 door like shown above.
now,if you raise it to 2 grand,Then you get quite a few possibilities.

take the amc`s i just bought,a javelin,and the matador.
asking prices were 1500 for the jav,and 1500 for the matador.
i got them both for 500 and 600 bucks on the spot.
then i sold parts off and have less than a grand in a half decent project.

again,it seems to me like not many people want to work on anything,
which is why you can get Very good deals on projects right now.

That's nuts, I didn't see that one yet. If I had more room I would buy it in a second. Its four door but who cares when it's a 62 with a red interior.

They pop up you just have to be patient. Usually the less desirable models, yes, but not always.

I would also agree around 1000-2500 likely to give you a greater "bang for you buck." A more desirable model or a car in better condition. You can get lucky with someone who has had something for a while or just wants it gone but otherwise around 1500-2000 would be highly possible asking price for a reasonable person motivated to sell who didn't overpay to begin with.

I haven't seen a decent parts car for under $2000.00 in a couple of years.

A "desirable" car for a $1000 would be resurrection not a fixer upper.

Here's a 500 dollar mopar these days, rusty, no interior or drivetrain. Had a shot at 3 run down 70 Challengers last winter for 3k, the deal didn't last long.

Have posted this photo many times.Bought it off of CL for $1700. He was asking $3500. Ran, drove, complete down to the hub caps.318 3 on the tree.
Didn't look that great as the owner primed it :mad:after the CL photos.White with a red interior.Only a little rust in the quarter and a small hole in the passenger floor. Sat in the corner for about 5 years after I bought it.

Working on getting it on the road now.

I bought my 64 fury wagon for 2100. The engine ran great, but it didn't really drive well and wasn't road worthy. 95% complete too. Only missing the original radio and some other very minor stuff which I have already sourced.

318 push button car.

I needed to rebuild the trans. I replaced the brake system completely, some other small odds and ends needed working out.

I'm currently driving it around... drove it to work today

These Deals are all over SoCal, I see them all the time, just don't have a big enough back yard.

Yep... it all comes down to space. If I had more room at my place I'd have a bunch cars and motorcycles waiting for me to get to them ;)

I've had to pass up a lot of stuff simply because I had nowhere to put it and work on it.

If your looking for a deal on a car older than the 70s california is the best place to shop around.

I think this is under a grand, iirc, sunroof, petty blue, rot box, good luck getting it off the flatbed.

Hubcaps sold separately.
