I took my column apart for paint. There’s a large bent/pressure washer of some kind that’s inside the shift housing on an automatic on the column. It was just laying loose inside when I dissembled everything. Can someone post a parts diagram please ?

How about YOU post a picture of the washer.

As you can see, it has a bend to it. It’s a pressure washer of some kind. I know it goes in the housing with the gear shifter attached. I just don’t know where or how ? Roughly 2 to 2-1/2 inches.

Yes, thank you my friend. I believe it’s purpose is to keep tension on the housing closest to the dash. But, that’s only a guess.

That photo of mine is from a 69 b body floor shift column

Yeah, probably serves same purpose. Floor shift models still have the 2 separate housings I believe. I think it creates tension between the two where they meet. To keep those ends from slipping around too much. But, I’m not a column expert.

There we go, pictures I can see. I’ll surely read through it before I go to bed. Thank you, you’re a good man. Appreciate it.
Took me a little while to figure out how to take both housings apart. Shed some tears, shed some dollars when I broke the gear pointer. Lol ! But, I figured it out. This washer was going to be the only part to hang me up. Because it appeared just laying in there, out of place. Hopefully it was my damn switch causing turn signals to all of the sudden no longer work. Cause I tried everything else. We’ll see when the new one gets here.

Page 19-4 of the 70-71 Parts manual illustrations, shows a good assembly picture. It sits on the support bracket of the Jacket and covered by the first housing.

It has already been shown to the OP right?.......I think that was acknowledged by the OP in post #12......

Pictures are worth a thousand words....Post #11 clarified that up easily for what the OP was searching for......As he sated btw...lol

Thank you, sir. Very kind of you. I just now started putting it back together. That’s infact what I did. Thank you, for reassuring me. Cause, I still wasn’t 100% sure. I am now though.

Your welcome, I just took one apart from a 70B body last week, and the wave washer fell out. So I went through what your asking. Luckily the parts manual which is on line for free use has a good diagram to help with all parts of the reassembly.

Always nice to have confirmation; right. Who knows if that column was put together correctly without verification.:poke: LOL. Plus if any other questions come up it is good to know there is a reference from the manufacture to help.

Yep, same thing happened to me. I googled for b body images of the parts diagram and didn’t find my exact column. But, now I understand most of these columns probably have that washer. Even though, the upper housing is quite different on most. I found a thread on here a few weeks ago looking for the parts diagram I needed. But, couldn’t find it when I needed it of course. It’s not a big deal to ask. Cause there’s a lot of good hardcore people out there. That know exactly what your talking about and it doesn’t bother them to help. I know I always help others if I can.

I am still waiting for a detailed thread from you showing something from the start to the finished product...You talk a good game but provide not actual results....Unless it’s information from the manufacturer.....Which is good information but anyone can find that stuff in today’s digital age....geez, provide something better for once, lol...

I mean crap that junk looking radio you tried to peddle in Moparts was some serious comic relief if that’s your skill set...

Lol, Your not looking hard enough, I have posted pictures of Distributor, WP, Steering Pumps, Fuel Pump and such. Not afraid of the brake system either. Lol You troll me pretty well, surprised you missed it. LOL Not everyone inherited their daddies car, and some folks don't feel they have to provide details of everything they do. In fact most don't. So if you don't like it pass. Free country, you don't have to read every post, and certainly no one has to post everything they do, though it is the twitter face book era, me me me, or rather you you you. LOL (your favorite expression)
