Those nubs can hit #5 main cap. Friend was the engine guy at a Plymouth dealer in late 60's. He did an engine and it leaked, never happened before. Pull the pan and looked around and saw the nubs hitting the cap. A little kiss on the grinder if in doubt.If you use too long of a oil pan bolt that goes into the seal retainer, you will punch a hole through the retainer! The oil pan gasket will not completely cover the hole for the bolt and you will have a leak!

I've always had to cut down those two oil pan bolts (or heaven forbid, buy shorter ones) to get them them to tighten properly.If you use too long of a oil pan bolt that goes into the seal retainer, you will punch a hole through the retainer!
