I replaced the carpet on my '69 Road Runner a year or two ago and am already noticing wear (carpet getting fuzzy) where my right foot rubs the console side panel. The carpet did not come with a vinyl scuff pad to prevent this. Anyone else have this problem (probably everyone) and come up with a solution? I have thought about going to the Men's Mall (salvage yard) and cutting a pad out of one of the carpets, but if I glue it to the carpet I think it will be out too far and may not adhere very well and interfere with my foot placement on the pedal. I thought about shaving the carpet down to the base and then gluing the pad, but if I am correct, the carpet is closed loop and I am afraid that it will start to unravel. Any ideas?

Is that Acc carpet? Why does it not have the pad?

Every thought of using a floor mat and slider it over to your right?

Carpet I put in 20 years ago from YO looks worse than the original that was replaced. It’s actually through drivers side parking brake vicinity. The passenger side got the fuzzies early on. I’m gonna live with it.

I have the same problem, I used a floor mat. 65'

I think it came from Year One.

My guess is that they did not come with a scuff pad from the factory so the replacements where made to be "correct".

That's a thought I hadn't considered. I don't want to replace my embroidered Road Runner mats , but I could fab up a piece from a floor mat and bolt it down with the gas pedal to keep it in place without glue.

I bought a new ACC carpet, it was fine for months.

Bought their carpeted floor mats to protect the carpet and they fuzzed up and wore within minutes.

Thinking about taking my electric shaver to it.

You can get thin rubber floor mats and place over your road runner mats......When you display the car just take the rubber mats out......

Same here in buying the matching floor mats. I'm really glad I bought them if the carpet would do the same thing.

i wonder who to use for interior or just go local with it. after breading all the story's about waiting 6 months for door panels and headliners to short etc etc. so what would you do if you could do it over.

If Legendary makes the seat covers, get it from them, buy hog rings and hog pliers and diy.
I bought their upholstery kits as well, burlap, cotton, foam, etc. If I did it again I'd try to source that stuff locally.
I just recreated what I removed, online videos didn't match up to reality.

For my 62, Legendary doesn't make covers. Found a retired upholstery guy who did my whole interior for half of what the local place quoted.

So local you feel is better and the quality is good. Again after reading all these horror story of this and that I think doing it yourself or local shop would be best bet. You see the product of color and materials and then you are getting what your wanting.

Bearman, I had my interior done locally. I gave the guy pictures and measurements from A990 cars.
I use rubber floor mats to protect the carpet from wear.
