Did I kill my tachometer?

I think I might have killed my tachometer? I have never had a car with msd ignition and I wired my tach wire to the negative side of the coil. It wasn't working wired this way and I just removed the wire from the coil and wired it to the white wire on the msd and still nothing. I'm guessing I killed my tachometer unless they have a internal fuse.

MSD uses a separate tach signal.

Thanks it's on the box. I wired it up and the tachometer is still alive.
