Hood release will not release good catch and banging on the hood to get it to loosen up and jump up enough to put your fingers under it doesn't work. Any ideas how I should go about getting this thing open?

I put something under front of hood to give it some tension to pop up when you pull the hood release cable. Alot of times the hood bumpers need to be adjusted up after being squashed down for years.

you need to spray some weasel piss on the latch.

or the opposite....... it's shut too tight

try applying down pressure over the thatch area while someone else pulls the cable....... if this is the case, raise the latch or lower the rubbers

Like mentioned, have someone pull the release inside while you push down. Get her opened and give it a good lube job. (Hope the cable isn't broke)

I have an 05 Sebring if you need any pics.

Good idea I'll try it thanks

The core support to hood gasket usually gets cruddy and will keep the hood in place even after pulling the release. Use something to GENTLY slip under the edge of the hood and lift up while someone holds the release out.
