Hello, I recently took my car out of storage where it sat for about a year. I noticed a spot on the black carpet that looked kinda fuzzy, i assume its mold of some kind..... My question is how can i kill this mold without ruining my carpet? Most of the products i see have some sort of bleach or chlorine, im worried that it would bleach white my black carpet. Would a Lysol product work? any suggestions would be appreciated...thanks Rich

Dawn?

I'd try a vinegar water mix good luck

Not too long ago I found a dribble type stain up by the collar on one one of my good work shirts.

I couldn't for the life of me remember a food incident...

Later I noticed a few more shirts with the same pattern of stain.

...and found an old plastic bottle of power steering fluid on the shelf above the laundry rack leaking down on the clean clothes.

I had about 5 of my favorite work shirts and shop shirts affected.

I put about a quarter sized amount of dawn on each stain, then ran them through the washer in regular loads.

After the third time, the stains were noticeably lighter, and after the 5th or 6th time, they were gone or at least unnoticeable.

Dawn takes power steering fluid out of your way!

Needless to say, I was impressed.

Dawn is the correct answer. Take a spray bottle on fine mist. literally 3 drops of Dawn....just enough to moisten, not wet....the carpet. Dab dry....repeat three times. Air dry after. No scent.....no mold....and no rust.

i was thinking that Dawn is a great grease cutter for my wifes meatloaf pan but i always thought mold was a living virus type of thing... Dawn will clean the fuzzy mold but what will kill the mold?

....good for lots of stuff. Mold is a spore based pathogen, and can be affected by surfactants in he soap. Works great in a diluted state. Got to be careful not to use too much. Works great on meatloaf grease too. Engine parts ect. No kidding.

If you have mold there then it's also elsewhere. Vacume it then have it detailed or just steam cleaned

U can purchase some dryer bags to put in your car after u clean it also

Windex, just like in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. But seriously, as previously stated there are mold spores (now that you see the mold) all over, especially near the main area. Vacuum and steam clean, then if needed use Dawn.

This stuff will take the spots off a dalmatian!!! My "go to" for any organic stain. Wont touch a grease stain though. Had a tan colored carpet out of a 97 Jeep that was super dirty (it was nasty). I was going to pitch it but tried this instead. It worked magic, and brake clean took out the numerous grease spots. As the name implies it also removes mold and mildew stains. It really does. Spray it on, wait a little and wipe it off. Since your carpet is black, you should probable test a hidden area first. Great stuff but a little hard on the nose and hands.

White vinegar
Spray it on
Let it sit an hour
Scrub it off with warm water
Mold will be dead
