What Transmission Control Lever?

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a good holiday. These few days off gave me some tinkering time. I've got a trans leak I'm tracking down and since I had the shift linkage off I figured it would be a good time to replace what I had on there with the correct linkage. However I dont know what the correct control lever is. Is it the dirty nasty straight one on the right or the one on the left that has a little curve to it? Car is a column shift, 69 RR 727 auto.

Generally, a 727 shifter lever is straight and a 904 is offset (though some applications have different length of levers to compensate for vehicle model/engine combinations).

Pretty sure all the 727 levers I encountered were straight. I've had them from many years & models, think they were the same. But???

Wow, thanks for that Beep. It looks like my straight one is the way to go, though it does look just a little different. Mine has an extra plate of sorts and the rod connection has a rubber bushing keeping it in instead of a clip.

Looks like the one I've got wont work because of that rubber grommet. I cant use the rod that goes with that grommet because it doesnt work with the adjustment block (didnt know a better name for it)

Never seen one of those. Just curious, what holds the rod in the grommet, push fit pressure?

Yeah basically. I'll take a pic of the other rod, it's hard to explain how it works. What I can tell you is, it's a pain in the *** to remove.

The correct one for your application is the one in beepbeep's top photo. The one you have with the rubber bushing is for 74 and up. If you need one and beepbeep don't get you fixed up i have those available, PM me

Hello any chance you still have one of those straight. Ones ,putting together a 70 Roadrunner 440 auto on floor car was old race car had a cable auto shifter I. found stock console and shifter think that’s the last pc I need thanks Gregg
