This reminds me of when I was in high school. I started to hang out with another Mopar guy and the first time I went to his house he told me to head down the the pool table room down the steps and he would be down with sodas. Well his dad had a full body female lion mount as you rounded the corner of the steps. I dam near pissed myself!!!!

Greetings Bladecutter! I just got home from a San Francisco Bay Area vacation. I visited the San Francisco City Hall where my girl cousin married her wife recently. (Only in America!)

My cab driver took my wife & I downhill from the City Hall following the steep Bullitt chase scene streets. My *** puckered knowing Steve and the Charger drove that route wide-open-throttle. Steve did his own stunts and now I have a huge appreciation of the cojones Steve owned to drive the course at that insane speed! I couldn't agree more when Pops1967GTX states the epitome of Coolness is Steve McQueen! The film Bullitt chase scene tied up the City for almost 3 weeks.

Bladecutter, Steve's 390 Fastback Mustang and the 440 Dodge Charger are pretty close to being evenly matched in the film. Using the car weight to power ratio:

1968 Fastback Mustang - 3336 lbs - 390 c.i. - rated 325 h.p. - 13.7 lbs/hp
1968 Dodge Charger - 3737 lbs - 440 c.i. - rated 375 h.p. - 13.3 lbs/hp

That could explain why the lighter Mustang was faster in the corners and the more powerful Charger made up the distance in the straightaways........... just sayin.'

The Charger driver said he had to stay off the gas so the Mustang could keep up.
