My 1968 Sport Satellite has 10" front drums. Any recommendations on brake shoes that have maximum stopping power with the stock drums? I don't care how long they last as probably won't put on much more than 4000 miles per year.......................MO

Mo, I can't remember where I saw it, but I thought someone made a special, ceramic brake shoe.

Hey MO when did you get another car?
Mike

Keep an eye on this thread MO. There's a member that has a stashpile of good OEM brake shoes around here...I can't remember his screen name but he'll most likely be along shortly.

I've had it a few years (4-5?) Had to sell the 64 red/white top Dodge to work on this Satty. Drove it all last Summer and now ( hopefully) getting it painted . Just about finished with it. It Just don't have quite the brakes I think it should after all 4 corners have been done and double checked.. If interested I have a build thread on it here on FBBO... Good to hear from you again.........................MO

I noticed they didn't show 10" drums but did on the 11s

I'd be leery of ceramic brake shoes. Everything I've read says ceramics create less dust and handle heat better, but at the cost of breaking action.

Thanks for the shout out, Dadsbee,
And, yes, I seek out N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ Brake Pads and Brake shoes every time I find it --- because it is the softest, smoooooothest braking system known to mankind --- and the ONLY thing that stops REAL cars!!
I get requests in the G M world, the MOPAR world, the Ford world, the Studebaker world, and more......
I have two more loads to buy -- once this coronavirus crap is over and I can travel to the locations where they are !!!!!!
And on certain #s where I have sold them all -- I have waiting lists....As soon as I find them, they have customers waiting!!!!! (I can't hate that!!!!)
Yours, Craig....

Problem that has caused me to lose sleep got solved today. . Thumping noise in the left front wheel when I put on the brakes , sometimes worse than other times. Mechanic told me that something worn in the suspension can cause that. My drums looked like they had recently been turned and the shoes had plenty of lining. I tore it down twice, no problem evident. Suspension looked real good except the steering idler arm was showing some up and down play. Replaced that, still the same problem. I had bought some NORS brake shoes from " mobileparts " hoping to get better stopping power. So, I bought some new brake drums and installed them yesterday, along with the new brake shoes and all the hardware new.. That fixed the problem.... YES !!!.. evidently the drum that looked like it had been recently turned , was warped out of round. I don't know how much credit to give to asbestos brake shoe lining, but this car stops as well as the disc brake conversion on the 64 dodge.. really well....................................MO
