Will a set of 15” diameter, 10” wide, 5” backspace Rallye wheels with 295/50R15 tires fit under a stock 1973 Road Runner rear?

Thanks,
Robb

I think they will work. You might need to check for rubbing on the leaf springs. I had a set of 15x10 rims with that size tire on my 74 Road Runner. My rims were more offset (deep dish) and I had to roll the fender edge a little. I could have used more offset.

Thanks. I was thinking it would be close.

A little too much backspace is a lot better that not enough. Too close to the springs, a spacer solves that, too close to the fender, cut up tires.
My best guess.... 15x8,8 1/2 with 4 1/2 backspace seems to be the setup that fits almost everything, and your 15x10 splits the difference. I think it will fit. The wheelwell of the fuselage cars are huge.

I tried 15 x 10 with 5.5" back space and rubbed on the leaf spring on one side and had less than a quarter inch on the other. If you go with 5 inch, you may fit, but I would be concerned with rubbing on the outside wheel housing and tearing up the tire and the metal, unless your roll the wheel housing under. I ended up going with 15 x 8 and am very happy with the look! 235 /60 front and 255/60 rear.

Right now I’m running factory 15” Rallyes with new 245/60R15 Cooper tires on all four corners. I saw the 10” wheels and tires for sale locally and thought they would really fill out the rear.

1973 Plymouth Roadrunner, had 15X8 4.5 backspacing, P255-60R15 with no clearance problems. Not what you asked but just information.

Are you running 3" deep trim rings on your 15x8 wheels? 15x8 on front and rear?

Not at stock height. My neighbor had a new 73 Road runner and the first thing he bought were 15 X 10" rims with Goodyear N50-15 rallyes. Only worked with Airshocks with extenders. Road like crap and bounced all over the road. Had the 70's "stink bug" look.
