On my fender tag under "BDY" it says "R42" Why does R4 signify a Belvedere? My car is a Satellite.

R42 is a satellite 2dr hardtop. I don't know what you mean by BR.

The decode program I looked at said B/R decodes to a Belvedere.

I used Galen govier's little white books. Some of the online decoders that I have seen are full of poo. In 1965 a Belvedere one with a V/8 would be R1, and a Belvedere two with a V/8 would be R3. Six cyl. versions would have a 3 as the first digit.

Galen has kind of fallen out of favour, but his books are quite accurate in my opinion. Not 100% of course.
B/R or BR is probably Galen's short-handed way of saying - B-Body, Belvedere line (where R=Belvedere)
