I’m working on my 71 Satalite I’ve had since 1979 and while removing the headers I found more rust on the left front frame rail just behind the K member. That rail has been patched once already so I’m thinking I’d rather swap out the entire rail. Looking all over the internet I can’t seem to find anything other than 70 down and or E Body parts. Now I remember reading that 71 E body front rails can be on a 71 B body or where I can purchase the correct frame rail or Safe-T-Cap. Any help will be appreciated.

There are a few small minor details different between the E-body & B-body. The rail will fit from an Ebody. I put a Goodmark rail in mine & it was listed for both. The differences were a blank hole up front, different shaped flange on the front of the horn corner, and the battery tray hole location about 3/4" off... Dont use a safe-t-cap. Do it right & be done.

Thanks so much for the reply, I had herd they would but I was hoping to hear from someone who tried, if I can’t find a good used one I will go that route. I’d like to do t right as the other three rails are spot on, no rust at all.

WOW YOU LIVE IN THE RUST BELT AREA?
Oh yes, although this car hasn’t seen snow since 1983, I ran an old truck during the winter, it was sitting on a Salt/sand pile when I bought it. Eight years prior though I’m sure it ran the salty, winter roads.
