How many 68 Charger R/T's in triple black made?

Hemi, column shift auto.

HemiAuto2.jpg

1968 Charger production 96,100
1969 Charger production 69,000
1970 Charger production 49,768
I am not sure of 1969 production numbers, but cars made decreased.
83,000 69 Chargers built. Production run for a model year ended in late June, early July.

Do you care about double black (black exterior and interior, no vinyl top), or is it just the triple?

Just asking because there are so few BB1 1968 Chargers RTS and two were for sale this week, but were double black.

Just the Triple Black. I want to see how many there are. If anyone has one I do not have please share.

I have asked the question in forums. I was told five. I asked Galin at a car show he said that he knows six. I have been doing research and found seven. I have vin tags for six. Only one I cannot find is the burnt Hemi 3x black Charger. I found the owner and he said he would get me pics but he has not. Crazy part no two are the same.

Does anyone know what the highest VIN number is for a 68 Charger that year? Mine was built on 7-01-68 a triple back charger, a friend of mine worked for Chrysler in the 60s and mentioned it is a week or two before tool over fo the 69 production year. I might have the last 68 Charger RT built?

There were many other black Chargers made with other than black interiors. I remember test driving a black outside, tan inside Hemi Charger about 1971. So a black exterior was probably not all that rare if all the possible interior combinations were considered. But yeah, if I had ordered one back then, it definitely would have been black/black.

68 Chargers were built at two different plants after March so there will be two different VIN ranges.
As VINs have nothing to do with production, cars with lower VIN's could be built later than your car.
Scheduled production dates do not indicate actual production dates. Cars can be built well before or after a scheduled date. Meaning a car with an SPD of July 1 could have been built mid June leaving open the possibility a significant number of cars were built after yours.

Meaning, the info you are looking for is impossible to know or claim.

Unless and until individual factory records surface, there is no way to know in what order cars were built.

Unless and until factory records surface, and probably not even then, there is no way to know how many cars were built in a specific combination. Available documentation just isn't tracked that way.

a little off topic....
how many 3X Black examples are sporting re-pop Fender Tags ?

Just say'in....
it might be nice to SEE the supporting Broadcast Sheets as well maybe to know for sure ?

Most of the ones I found have the tags and buildsheet to prove it.

I've seen far too many fake/repop Fender Tags to have much faith in the options listed on some I've seen... for a Fender Tag by itself as reliable sole authenticator ?
hence.... as I said,
maybe the best way to authenticate factory 3X Black may be a Broadcast Sheet accompanying whatever Fender Tag ?

The fender tag would be easy to repop.

The repop Fender Tags ARE easily available and can be ordered online as far as I know ?......
and we SEE them all the time, but also getting easier to spot once you know what to look for.(myself and others)

The motivation in the repop fender tags for many people is clear when undergoing restoration.... that said.... let's just say given the financial considerations of late around these cars, that imo, there are also those individuals acquiring the repop fender tags wishing to enhance desirablity/collectibility at resale by altering the coding present when acquiring the repop fender tags = for example 3X examples maybe ?
imo.... accompanying Broadcast Sheet should be paramount to authenticity maybe ?
