Covid 19 notification in my phone

View attachment 966066
No joke, I was using this 1996 Motorola Startac as late as last year. This 24 year old phone had better battery life and call quality than my $1200 Galaxy 9S +. If you wanted a cellphone and wanted to be off of the grid, this phone and others like it are the key, because they are not GPS enabled and are not automatically connected to the internet like modern phones. BUT.....as of this year, cellphone companies are no longer supporting phones that are not GPS enabled.

So, in the name of safety, off-grid phones like the phone you highlighted, as well as my beloved startac are no longer useable because no cellphone carrier will allow them on their network. If i am wrong, and if you or anyone here knows a cellphone carrier that will take phones like these relics, please let me know. Rocking an antique phone like this is like driving the Charger: stares and OMG's for days...
Still using the exact free Nokia GSM flip phone that I showed. It's my third phone since 1986, but she's just about pooched. Making it last as long as I can..

Personally I love my smart phone (Iphone) and would not consider going back, its convenience and capabilities are a benefit to my life. I don't give a **** if they are tracking me one way or another. To that end, there have been many many instances where tracking a phone has saved a life, so I am good with it. If I ever engage in some activity where I do not want to be tracked, well then I will toss the phone. While new technology is scary, but that doesn't mean its evil, sure it can be used in bad ways (like anything) but I believe the positive aspects of smart phones is larger than the potential misuse by the govt at this point. Now, having said that I would add that misuse by big tech is a bothersome issue because they have no rules, laws, etc. restricting them usually.

Just this morning when I got in the car, the iPhone told me it was 15 minutes to the body shop where my roadrunner is...but I was actually heading to work (for a change as on every other week furlough) tough decision but I went to work.

People need to stop carrying phones and start carrying guns. A lot of today’s problems would be solved...

My luck I'd blow my brains out calling for a pizza!

Yeah, as long as it stays subscribed they'll allow you to keep it connected, but if it ever gets removed from service or disconnected for any reason you won't be able reconnect it. They're basically forcing us to use newer technology even though these clunkers work just fine...
