Carlisle 2020

I was a Carlisle today and there are no mask police. Anywhere.
Honestly is it worth going to? I was thinking of heading up tomorrow but I think with only 40% vendors there they will be packing up and leaving already...My son want to go cause he gets Dewalt tools for his work and I told him who knows if those guys even went....

Probably not. Most were packing up this afternoon.

Just saw that they had the claim withdrawn by the Pennsylvania common wealth and health department and they will go on as planned with the events as advertised. That is good news for those planning on going for sure!

@69L48Z27 what do you think was the turnout for vendors and spectators? Are they limiting the number of people into buildings T and Y? Is foot traffic restricted to certain walk paths within these buildings?

From what I have heard and those that I spoke to, vendor count was down between 40 to 60% and foot traffic was down as much as 60%. I am sure that the rescheduled dates did not help the attendance.

If the Spring show is off that significantly, the upcoming Chrevolet show next week will take a serious hit. Hopefully with the Chrysler show going off on the scheduled dates, we can only hope that it is not a 60 to 70% hit. An agreement between the State and Carlisle Events should take away some of the uncertainty.

I think this was a tough one to measure for a couple reasons but I should be an indicator. I didn’t see any limitations on anything, just direction. You were only supposed to walk one way through a building and food court area, but nothing was in the buildings except for a couple vendors. Food vendors were only half open, not sure what that was all about. I would say vendor turnout was 50%, no big trailers. No Coker, no Legendary, No Quanta, no Al Knoch etc. Foot traffic was more than I expected it to be. You would need gate counts to really know. But if vendors were down 50% then foot traffic was automatically down, they all shop too. People are looking for something to do. I think the vendors have a green light, I don’t know if it will make people anymore comfortable though.
Next weekend is the GM show. That’s a horrible show compared to Mopars and Fords. We’ll see what that looks like. Probably going to be a ghost town.

Agree re the GM show....don’t use it as a guide or indicator for any of the other shows. I went last year on a beautiful Saturday and was really disappointed in it. The show field was pretty full but that was the only positive thing about it. Ten or 15 years ago it was a major event just like our show is today, but no more........

I think attendance will be great! If for any reason it sucks,I will be at South Mountain Raceway beating my brick.
Will be the 1st time to the track Friday with intercooling and want a 5 second time slip.

@69L48Z27 , thanks for your report on what your views were of the event. It pretty much matches up with what I have heard from others. I did not know how the different buildings were being dealt with and I am sure that was one of the concerns of the state.

Hopefully, people will now have a better ideal on what will be the direction of the show. We all know that the attendance will be down, but at least I have more faith that the event will be held without the intervention of the state unless something stupid happens.

I never quite figured out why. I know there’s a lot going on normally for GM stuff that weekend, normally. Camaro Nats in Frederick (also a joke), big Chevelle show in North East and I was told there was some big Olds and Pontiac show too. Maybe with everything else canceled it might bring some people out if there no chance of rain.

Hey FBBO members, Due to other circumstances beyond our control.. my brother and I

Here in North Carolina, we have an annual show called Auto Fair at the Lowes Motor Speedway . . . it was cancelled this years already.

We do have a second one, usually much smaller, in the Fall . . . not sure if that one will go on or not yet . . . it's happening . . .

Really sucks . . .

Mopars at the Rock is still on this weekend. Still debating whether or not to go.

would be good if some one who does go shoots a video.
Honestly it was very low traffic today and I would say only half of the spaces had someone parked there or parts there... I was going to go back up tomorrow but after walking around in the 95 degree heat I have no desire to go back..There was some great deals though and I am sure there were some great deals yesterday too...

Today was ‘move in’ day. I’m hoping tomorrow will have some people that got in today later. Shouldn’t be as hot tomorrow. The over all show got shortened up I think. I know a couple guys that said they were just coming in Friday AM early and they’ll be out Saturday by lunch time.
