Hello the ugly crowd!

I have a 69 Charger project. I'm a newbie, so it's gonna be "fun"! Got a lame 383/727 81/4.
Considering going the Restomod route but until I can recover from the actual purchase I'm considering working the 383 somewhat and moving the shifter from the console to the floor.

Living in South Africa will make it even more challenging, but like we say: "Africa's not for sissies!"

Welcome!
A friend of mine sold his 68 and the buyer is in South Africa.. Mopars must be popular there....

Welcome to the site!! I'm not understanding the mention about the shifter. If it's a console mounted shifter, it's on the floor.....

Welcome aboard, nice start to begin the journey.

Thanks Tony. Not too many around. A lot of bureaucratic hurdles (like Left Hand Drives not allowed...I may have to do a conversion at some stage) and a nasty exchange rate means only the rich guys can afford it. I'm not. It's been a dream 20 years in the making, hope it doesn't take as long to get her to what I want, but will surely enjoy the process! Every nut and bolt is going to be a challenge to source, afford and get here. Like now, I'm looking for a copy of the
DIRECT CONNECTION PERFORMANCE BOOK...

Lame 383? As in, not running? You build it right, that 383 is *** kicker.

Welcome from Sweden, we are far away but still in the same timezone! :welcome:

Welcome from WA state, I've visited SA many times, beautiful country but lots of issues, I cannot imagine trying to be a classic car guy there but I know they exist. I have a friend their who is a big Ferrari guy and has a 308 GTS.

Hi Durandal25, I think it's one of the later 383's. The only number I've seen so far is G383 11 232 I believe the G means it's a '71? Read somewhere that the 71's were not so hot. So, yes, needs a rebuild to spice it up somewhat!

Thanx 70chall440. Yup, we're going through a rough patch for sure. Lots of classic, muscle and hot rods. Some boys have cash. Got a mate down here in our tiny town that has about 18 cars.
