70 Road Runner convertible project

I picked up a 70 Road Runner convertible project car back in August. I needed another project car like i need an extra hole in my head,but real RM27N0 cars don't come up for sale every day! I wasn't planning to start on this project anytime soon,but the car was blasted to bare metal,and placed on a dolly,and even though I had it wrapped up tight,I started seeing some flash rust starting on it,so I got it out of the storage trailer and into the shop,and started prepping the car for etch primer,and primer over that so it would be protected. Both rear quarter panels were skim coated with a heavy coat of body filler from end to end,so I got my block out and started blocking the quarters. I was surprised to find that most of the filler ended up on the floor,and they appear to be the original quarter panels. The car does need a trunk floor pan,but the rear frame rails are good,as is the rear crossmember and the tailpanel. The about a foot of the right front frame rail needs to be replaced where the bumper bracket bolts up,a clean piece came with the car. there are about 25 spots that need pieces welded into them throughout the car,but it being completely blasted to bare metal top and bottom,everything is visible and there are no ugly surprises hiding under the paint or undercoating. It needs a drivers side floor pan too. The plan for now is to get it sealed up from the elements,and start gathering parts for the car. It was an automatic car that was converted to a 4 speed at some point. It is a yellow car with black interior and top.

So far I got the tail panel, cowl, windshield frame and engine bay sanded and etch primed. I also etch primed the rear frame rails and rear crossmember too. I etch primed the doors too. The trunk lid is even better than the one I bought from California. The California one had some very minor rust under the rear lip,the one that came with this car is perfect! What exterior/interior color combo are you going with?
 
She will be a stunning car when completed! Don’t give up either! See it stripped can be the best or worst feeling so I’d say your doing great... What are the plans?
 
Chargervert , Dont you have enough to do with the 90 chargers you have? I wish I had your talent to do all the metal work. Is the vert a BB car and did it come with AC?
 
Well the more I get into the car, like any other Mopar project, the more I find. I said that I saw about 25 spots that needed metal work, after working on it today there are more like 50 or so spots. Nothing structural, just typical B body stuff! Have welder,will travel! Lol! Here's some more pics.

I do have more to do than I have time left to do it! It really is a sickness! What do you do when a Road Runner convertible project comes up for sale? I was able to get a fair deal on the car, so I had to grab it. I had thought that the car was an N96 car, but I noticed that it doesn't have the hole in the firewall, so it's not. I have not gotten the tag and paperwork from the previous owner, but I will have it in a few weeks.
 
convertibles are now big money even with 383s in them. Guess I will have to buy one of those beat up chargers you have.I hope you do a thread on the RR Vert. Were do you put all those cars on Rhode Island? :lol:

The car came with a complete 69 383 engine and a 4 speed transmission. The seller has an air grabber hood that I can purchase if I want it.
 
I knocked a few dents out of the firewall and scuffed it down on the inside and got some etch primer on it, I also got the door jambs rockers,and sides of the cowl scuffed and primed too. There's so much bare metal that has to be sealed up! I found the correct screws to mount the dash,so I put it in place to keep it safe from damage!

I also got the lower grille frame scuffed and etch primed too. I'm making progress slowly but surely. I have to weld up some molding holes on the fenders, but they are next on the list of things to do.
