Partial resume for those wondering where I came/come from (adopted by a childless couple as an infant):
I have lived many places including San Jose, Salinas, and Sacramento, California; Juneau, Alaska; El Paso, Texas; Kings Beach, Lake Tahoe; Tijuana, Baja California and La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico; as well as about twenty other residences.
I have studied extensively at Hartnell Community College, Chabot Community College, San Diego City College, San Diego State University, and about ten other institutions of higher learning. Graduated first in my class (academically) at both the California Highway Patrol Academy in 1983 (class of 140 cadets) and the United States Border Patrol Academy in 1985 (class of 50 cadets). In 2000, I was trained to administer polygraph examinations by Cleve Backster in San Diego, CA. For all my efforts I can find: three A.A degrees conferred (Administration of Justice, Liberal Arts, Spanish) and one B.A. conferred (Spanish/Political Science).
Some work history: Began in Chualar, CA as a Chevron station attendant (was robbed at knifepoint one night working alone); restaurant worker (Salinas, CA); CHP Officer (South Los Angeles); U.S. Border Patrol Agent (El Paso); armored truck driver/guard (San Jose/San Diego); warehouse worker (Salinas/Hayward); mobile auto repair (self-employed Kings Beach, CA); office staff Placer County health clinic (Kings Beach); casino cashier (Stateline-Crystal Bay, Nevada); cattle ranch manager (King City, CA); bank teller (Juneau, AK); used car lot driver (Chula Vista, CA); and about ten other "occupations" along the way.I was also tentatively hired by the DEA to work a three year tour of duty as support staff in the American Embassy in Mexico City (until President Clinton was elected and froze all new federal employment, including my own appointment to the Embassy).
Visited and studied in Madrid, Spain; toured Stonehenge, Bath and Windsor Castle in Great Britain; saw camels in Tangiers, Morocco; photographed monkeys in Gibraltar; and spent Easter Week of 2003 at a hotel down the street from the U.S. interest Section in Havana, Cuba.
I attended a New Years Eve bash (1977) at Oakland Coliseum Arena with Sammy Hagar opening for "Heart"; attended the Firecracker 400 on Fourth of July (1985) @ Daytona; prayed with Pope John Paul offering a Mass in Monterey, CA (1987). I've seen Linda Ronstadt, Boz Scaggs, Beach Boys, Chicago, Fleetwood Mac, Peter Frampton, Gary Wright, Three Dog Night, Gloria Trevi, Britney Spears, Ohio Players, Willie Nelson, Jefferson Starship and many others in concert.
In fourth grade I toured the Ford Assembly plant in San Jose/Milpitas with my grade school class (Mustangs & Cougars). I've seen Big Daddy Don Garlits, Don Prudhomme, and all those other 1970's pro drag racers in person at Fremont Raceway. I studied Auto Tech and Body & Fender at Trade School. I blew up my first engine build the day after i installed it (273). In 1979, I crashed a Harley Sportster into a power pole and survived (fractured pelvis, mandible, maxilla). In 1999, I was thrown from a horse twice the same day (fractured right clavicle, left radius).
In 1984 I ran into singer Tom Jones at about 3:00 AM in downtown Los Angeles and asked him to sign a birthday card I had just purchased the day before for my girlfriend at the time. He obliged. He was smoking a cigar and had a good sun tan. I got the autograph of Dan Blocker (Hoss) at a restaurant/bar in Crystal Bay, Nevada when he was filming Bonanza that summer.
Shot two ground squirrels with a single .22 long rifle round (one was looking over the shoulder of the one in front). Cut a dragonfly in half that was hovering in mid-air over a pond with the same rifle (I know, I was a little cruel as a young adult). Chipped a golf ball into the hole with a nine iron without having been able to see the hole (climbed up from the low spot I shot from and could not find the ball anywhere on the green-looked in the hole and there it was!)
After having never even kissed a girl in all of high school, I asked a college cheerleader in my anthropology class out to lunch one time, and she accepted! Well, I wrote a book on all of those bachelor stories titled "Pleasure, Turmoil, Despair" but I can't find anyone interested in publishing it. I have had some letters to the editor published in "Super Stock" magazine; "The Catholic Observer" newspaper; "Salinas Californian" newspaper; "San Diego Tribune" newspaper" and maybe a couple of others.
In 1978 when my roommate Mike began sessions at the Church of Scientology, I made a picket sign and walked back and forth in front of the "church" one afternoon. One side of the sign said "Lord Have Mercy" and the other side of the sign said "Cults May Be Hazardous To Your Health" (the Jim Jones suicide/massacre in Guyana had just recently taken place).
Our marriage (1988) was witnessed by a gay priest from Chile who had served federal prison time for alien smuggling. Does that make me single or married?
Shall I go on?
P.S When I explained some of my life history to a psychologist one time, she thought I may have shown symptoms of AADD or Adult Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (LOL).
