Was thinking about buying a set of Crager Classic SS Chrome wheels for my 67 GTX. They list a 15 x 7 direct drill 5 x 4 1/2 pattern with 4 inch backspace . My only concern was the backspace, should a 4 inch backspace work ok. I wouldn't be trying to stuff a huge tire in the back.

Just a fyi. I recently put a set of direct drill Cragars on my car and had to replace all the wheel studs with longer ones to get more thread contact. Sure do like them though.....

I've run 275/60/15 on 7" rim ( Ford steel ) on the back of '67 GTX before. Believe they were 4.25- 4.5" back space.

love to see a picture

Direct drill? Not familiar with that term, please enlighten me.

I put on 15x8 cragars with a custom backspace of 4 3/4 and 275/60/15 drag radials.

hunt, were those wheels intended for conical nuts? The old Cragar's used a flat face mount that required "mag" lug nuts.

Yes, the new Cragar direct drill models use conical nuts.

4 .5 or 4.75 fits better,MO. Ran L60 15's 4"BS rubbed some on my 66 Satellite. Make sure you can remove tire if you get a flat without removing shock or jacking spring down.

Most of the 67 GTX's on the net have Magnums but I found a couple photos. They look good.

Great choice. I am going with a set of NOS Cragar Sparklers and redlines on mine.

Love Cragars on anything. My favorite wheel by far. I mix it up on my cars with multiple different sets that I have.

A 15x8 with a 4 1/2 backspace is a zero offset, as is a 15x7 with a 4" backspace. Most people say a 15x8 with 4 1/2 fits good so a 15x7 with same offset should fit just fine. ( a wheel width is measured from bead to bead, so a wheel ACTUAL width is about an inch wider than it is rated. So a 15x7 is really 8 inches wide, with a 4" backspace, the wheel mounts exactly in the middle of the wheel, zero offset.)

Yes, those are the exact sizes all my wheels are as well.

Not sure if the coronet is the same but if it is the rear wheel wells suck.. It has been a few years but I spent alot of time with wheels and a tape measure when I ordered my wheels and on the rear 15 x 8" wheels I got a 5 1/4" backspace.. If I did it again I would get 5 1/8" bs....
