Just a teaser.......

That woman....
She nudged me over the edge with it. I had been dancing around the subject for a few months but a few weeks back, she said..."Why wait?"
Great woman!
Mine used to say stuff like that too.....

Has anyone seen the new TKX 5 speed Tremec is building for Chevys and Fords?? Why can't they do something like that for Mopar??
They will once the Chevy and Ford guys test it out for us! :D

Yeah, me too. I'm anxious to get moving on it.

I am tempted to run the car on a dyno to gauge the current HP with the 727, then later with the 5 speed.

It would be great if you had qtr mile times before/after too, and try to get the car onto a weighbridge. I know you're after an improved driving experience rather than speed, but it would be an interesting comparison all the same - HP/Torque, Qtr Mile/Trap Speed, Weight. Before/After.

It's a lot to ask though, so feel free to tell me to go fxxx myself...

I know the weight of the car . I had it weighed after doing the new A/C setup. I am at an even 4000 lbs with a full tank.
Since I am not a drag racer, I don't have an extensive history of the car's quarter mile capabilities. I would have to make some runs to first establish some ability.....I have a habit of just stabbin' and steerin'...

Wow, that is not good.

congrats Kern!

SST puts a good kit together. my TKO has been a pleasure to drive with. hydraulic clutch, shifter motion/engagement, and even the gear spacing has me still in awe of how well it all works together.

get started on the build thread

Which model of transmission did you go with? The wide ratio or the close? I don't recall your engine or the axle gearing either.

my tko500 gearing as follows: 3.27, 1.98, 1.34, 1.0, 0.68 - not sure if thats close or wide

so my combo is a 440cu, tko500, to 8.75” with 2.94 gears on 26.1” BF Goodrichs

very happy with it. making freeway jaunts a breeze

That is the wide ratio. The deep first gear helps you get away with that super tall axle ratio.
Mine is the close ratio TKO 600 model with the 2.87 1st, 1.89 2nd, 1.28 3rd, 1.0 4th and the .64 5th.
Mopar Action magazine did a feature on a '70 Road Runner with a 4.10 Dana and the wide ratio model that you have.

I am anxious to get started but I have to do the Christmas shopping first. I hate shopping. I don't like this time of year either. If I were to dig in and start the swap, I'd probably put off shopping until Christmas eve, making things far worse.

I like the simpler pistol grip lever of the E body cars. Mine is a LOT longer.
