hi,
does anyone know if the rod that goes through the floor for an automatic shifter is completely straight or is there a curve to it.also how long is it from end to end. thank you

The torque shaft rod that goes through the floor is straight. If you show a pic of the shaft you have or are going to purchase i or others on here will be able to tell you if it is correct. A 70 B-Body shaft is unique all by itself. There are also other 70 shafts that are similar inc 70 up A-Body and C-Body but have different lengths and clocking on the levers

thanks for getting back to me. i have the torque shaft with a slight curve . i have it currently installed .i figured it was wrong since the shifter cant properly shift the gears. i adjusted the lower rod with the swivel.do you know what makes the 70 rod unique and do you know what other rods would work .thanks for your help

hi, i found the pic of what i recently bought.thanks

Shifter linkage 2.jpg

i thought maybe it was made that way? thanks
That part is commonly bent like that when a motor is pulled and the trans is hanging.. That could be straightened and used. It is supposed to be straight..

The torque shaft and top lever you have in the pic are not for a 70 B. Judging from the lever on top of the torque shaft that is a 66 A, B or C-Body part. A 70 B torque shaft has a fixed curved top lever. I have no idea how to help you w/o determining what top shifter linkage rod and lower linkage trans rod you are using. Miss matching pieces from different years and models never works correctly as almost every year and model has some different pieces that where specifically designed to function with the geometry of the other pieces which are being used from a specific year/model
