Plug in hybrid

you could get a Plymouth Feather Duster with a slant 6 and 3 speed manual and get 36 mpg, sip gas, and have a cool car. Or you could convert your Dakota to E85 because it will likely be subsidized again like it was under the Obama administration.

A couple of years ago I worked the GM driving event at Barrett Jackson, we had a Bolt there that at first I basically laughed at, but I have to say by the end of a week I was pretty impressed with it, got decent range, had awesome torque (as all electrics do), very comfortable and easy to drive. At the end of the week we had several people state they were buying one as soon as they got home.

Were you going to drive that electric when all the roads go to h**l? States are already sufferings with gas guzzler fuel tax collections. Doesn't appear anyone wants to face up to this issue either.

Most places around me have a "Wheel Tax", I live in a "town" vs a city. The "city" near me that I work in has a 4 way stop lol, those poor bastards 5 miles away pay city taxes and a wheel tax, I live by a lake and my taxes are half and roads are better. Weird eh? I'm not sure about an EV tax though. Like I said I'm not liking this. Ill be better when we can get my wife the Wrangler 4XE and I keep hers, if she lets me.

As far as roads going to hell, that would be snow, wife gets her Jeep back, ill limp down the hill to work in the POS, or take the Cummins.

Our plan is to retire if gas gets to $4 per gallon. There will no longer be a reason to leave the house as all profit will be used up just getting there.

Thats why I took a pay cut and have a job I like 6 miles from home. Being happy doing your job is more important than money. But when I costs too much(wife) to drive and park(1100 yr), it sucks. I see what's coming with the new administration, I'd like to be ahead of the curve.

We pay about $3.60 American dollars per gallon for gas, but heating my house in December January and February is around $750 American per month, somewhat less in the other months. I drive a Jeep JK, love it.
But anyway, as far as Tesla’s in the cold: a local guy has one, drives it all winter. Look at where I live. It works fine. It’s not garaged, and he has a commute of a few miles per day. Tesla should use him for advertising.

My son and daughter lived in the Yukon for a couple of years, I know what you mean about the heating costs in winter. Meanwhile, here in BC I pay $72 per month for my natural gas for my furnace, hot water tank, stove and barbecue, same price winter or summer.

Since you mention Tesla cold weather driving, I just read a review that praised how great the Tesla SUV handled in snow and ice. Yes, they did mention that the range dropped, but it was still better than the Jaguar I-Pace SUV managed in warm conditions.

Screw the tree huggers....

Lol. EV's and hybrids are lame but they do have their uses. I used to commute about an hour and a half each way to work and back home; I sure as hell could've used one of those things for the drive. I would have preferred to save the V8's for the weekends...

Hell, I figure I'm "going green" when we take the '12 Charger (5.7) instead of the Ram or Fred out....:)

Really?....you guys are lucky if you are moaning about fuel going over $4 per gallon....a quick google reveals that the last time we had fuel at that price here it was 1995 and that was due to a dip in crude oil prices!!! As I write this (at todays exchange rate) a gallon of gas costs about $7.36!!....ok its a slightly bigger gallon but that still works out at $6.13 per US size gallon!!! Even at $4 per gallon you would still have about the cheapest fuel in the industrialised World.
....and you wonder why most Europeans run around in 1 to 2 litre cars???.....you can drive all day here and not see more than a handful of V8s...and they are mostly in big SUVs like Range Rovers. Count your blessings its not higher than $4!!!
Just for info....the fuel actually costs about the same as yours.....but its heavily taxed .... originally to try and cut the number of cars on a our congested road (that didn't work....people just paid more)....and then to encourage you to buy more economical cars to lower pollution (that didn't work either....people just paid more!).
According to price aggregator petrolprices.com, the current average price for a litre of UK unleaded fuel is 116.1p....(its about 120p so £1.20 near me). Of this, 56.19p is fuel tax, 17.29p if VAT, 9.12p is the cost of delivery and a cut for the retailer and just 33.5p is the actual cost of the fuel. Yes it is a rip off....but I will remortgage my house before I buy an electric vehicle....and hybrids are pointless....the worst of both worlds....and they will be included in the petrol/diesel NEW car ban in 2030....so even our Gov don't like them!!!

For me its not about going green, tree hugging, for me its all about more money for MOPARS. I save a lot of money driving them and that helps the habit.

Your prices are all due to taxes set by the dictators who run your country... Fuel taxes are what pays your FREE medical??? That's what I have read...

As you know its all its all give and take....it takes a certain amount of cash to run the country (rather more at the moment!).....if you have lower taxes here (or reduce them), you have to have higher taxes there (or raise them!!!). I don't think that fuel taxes are particularly used to fund the NHS......tax is all one big pot here without specific taxes funding specific services. We don't have a dictator here!......... Our country is actually run in a very similar way to yours.....but this is not the Political Forum so ill leave that alone!!
