Do some research. I believe you can't mix Dot 3 or 4 with Dot 5. Dot 3, 4, and 5.1 can be mixed, but not with Dot 5.

Dot 5, I believe, is silicone based so it will not mix with 3 or 4 but, it is not hygroscopic. Ideal for toys.

You can used the Dot 5.I had Dot 5 in my 64 Belvedere.Worked just fine.
It was in it when I bought the car and still there when I sold it 6 years later.
Do some reading on Dot 5. And then decide . Some say you have to flush it and replace every so often.

Richard Ehrenburg says by Federal Law all brake fluids have to have compatibility. He also recommends a good flush when switching to DOT5.
