Hi all,
New member here. Just took possession of a '66 Coronet 500 that my dad purchased new in October, 1965. Was passed down to one of my brothers in 1969, and it's finally made its' way to me.
Fond memories of picking it up on delivery day as an 8 year old.
Car needs paint and interior, and I'm looking at interior kits from a number of sources. Also considering local upholstery shops.
Seeking recommendations on the quality of these pre-made kits, and which ones are better than others. Trying to keep within a $5k or less budget.
Thanks in advance!
Daniel

Legendary is good for factory reproduction kit, but expensive. That being said the factory stuff was not all that great in my opinion so you may be disappointed when your $500 door panels show up and they are thin heat pressed vinyl over Masonite. Avoid PUI their quality is crap. The vinyl they use has a nicer feel than Legendary but the material they wrap it around is basically carboard that falls apart easily. One thing to note is no matter who you order from they all require extensive installation so depending on your skill level you may still be sending it to the local upholstery shop to have it all installed.

Gotcha. Thank you.

Is SMS still in business?

Last I heard yes.. But unless you have 2-3 years to wait & three times as much money as Legendary.... They make beautiful stuff but not for most normal people....

Learn to DIY it and save a ton of coin. Get a friend that's done this before to help, the extra pair of hands will help tremendously. Good Luck

They were 3 years ago when I ordered material and carpet for an aircraft refresh. Didn’t even think about them for autos. They had an ultra leather product that was very nice quality vinyl.
Having one of those days -
Was thinking of SRS

If you do go with Legendary order it directly from them, don't go through Classic Industries. I would also make sure to use their seat foam, other manufactures are not the same actually size and Legendary will not guarantee the covers if there is a problem.

I've ordered direct in the past but now I order through Dante, he sells Legendary for less.. They give him a discount for being a volume dealer & he passes part of the savings along to you..

Thanks. Called Legendary today. 20 month backlog

Oops! 20 week backlog, not months!
Classic had the bucket seat upholstery and headliner in stock. Ordered the side panels, carpet, and rear seat upholstery. Will be waiting.....
