It's cold...

We're in the low 30's here in North Carolina, but I have been without power for 2 days now. We had bad freezing rain Friday night and there's trees down everywhere. Running off the generators and space heaters to stay warm. It's around 60 in the house. I am leaving for Illinois tonight, that should be fun.
Glad you have the generator.

Well, depending on when you left last night you might be in Illinois already. If you're up north, welcome to -2 degrees with flurries, oh and the roads were a little loose this morning on my way to work. On your way back home could you be so kind as to take a load of this B.S. weather back with you. Be careful out there and get back home safe.

Balmy -13 this morning :drinks:

Damn, -20 this am. -40 if you stand out in the wind.
These are the kind of mornings that I have come to love the newer pickups and cars.

starting fluid and jumper cables.
Pan of glowing charcoal under your oil pan.
Ah the good old days.

When I was young I was kind of the self appointed cold weather car starter. I learned the charcoal trick from a truck driver. Once I tried it on moms New Yorker I started putting the hot charcoal under the other cars of people that had to go to work. I was up arly for my paper route anyway. This got me a few extra $$$ in the winter.
It was -19 at 4am today

Cut down barrel filled with corn cobbs and maybe so waste oil was the tractor heater. If a tractor would start any vehicle on the farm could be started. If the school bus did not come there was no reason to leave the farm anyways. Chores still had to be done and that required a tractor.

Well, on the plus side it's supposed to get above 0* f for the first time in over a week, so there's that.....

We had such a warm December and January

Then

Something like 12 days in a row of below zero in WI

Hit almost 20 today at the Airport , felt pretty damn good honestly

Maybe 40 by next Tuesday - Maybe I will look at the Bee and make sure it’s still under the cover

It's really warming up! Was -24 Mon morning, -21 Tues morning, today -9. Much warmer by next week. I haven't heard much about the melting polar icecap for a while.

Awoke this morning to 12 above 25 degrees warmer than it was yesterday morning. It's a heat wave.

+1 here this morning, sure beats that -20 stuff.

It's always about 10-15* warmer down in the cities than it is up here in Frostbite Falls.

My grandpa had a 39 ford F6 that he used for corn shelling and had to fire it up in the winter. It had a flathead v8 a cat d4 radiator, no hood
...he would put corncobs with kerosene under the oil pan. The flames would shoot up past the fenders. Lol
He always got it going.
It left a impression on those helping him back in the day.
