Is there supposed to be a rubber grommet where the throttle cable passes through the firewall? Anyone got pics? Does the clip go on first to hold the cable in place then the grommet?

If I remember right you mount the bracket with the foam gasket. Push the throttle cable through from the engine side and install the retaining clip inside. No rubber grommets that I recall, just the flange on the cable seals against the foam.

You didn’t mention what you are working on so I just assumed 66-70 b body of some sorts lol.

There is a Rubber grommet in that bracket. Then the cables come in from engine side and clip retains the cable. It’s very hard to do by yourself with the bracket in the car. Remove the bracket and installed the cable and clip then install the bracket again.

not easy with headers on the hot rod Coronet two bolts up next to cable hole, Two nuts below that.

Just an FYI. The rubber grommet in the bracket is nothing more than an insulator. It does not seal anything to the firewall.

Actually it seals the hole the cable mounts in. Not only would the cable be loose without the grommet but fumes would come inside the car.

Then the white foam seals the bracket to the firewall. Both are needed to have it sealed.
