Not sure if I received the correct harness from Year one. My 68 Charger originally had a small block and auto and points ignition. Purchased what should be a 68 to 70 b body big block harness with electronic ignition. Question is the 2 plugs I circled, aren't these for the ballast? They will not reach back to the firewall. Its got me thinking I have the wrong harness, plus what are these 2 white plugs for?(second pic) Any input would be appreciated.

The two plugs circled are field wires for the alternator... The two white plugs are for a dual ballast...

Hmm...lol never seen one of those(dual ballast). Where /how can I source one? Thanks

 Thank you Wild!
Have more questions about the relay too but will save those for another day.

Your welcome. happy to help.. Relays are fun.... LOL

The duel resistor is only for the obsolete 5 pin ECU.
Replacement ECUs will be 4 pin and use the single ballast resistor.
However all new replacement ECUs that I have found are "junk".
Auto parts store ones even have "fake" transistors on them so they will look "correct"
There is only one that I will use
No resistor necessary

What "Relay"? If I might axe?
Are you going all Dakota digital, E.F.I. etc?
OE I guess. The relay I was referring to is the starter. I know the wiring is slightly different between automatics and 4 speeds.

Did look into that one but it's a bit pricy. And since I might go MSD in the near future didn't want to invest so much. I did get one from Ehrenberg's ebay store which I heard are good units.

Yes, pricey compared to junk.
And EBooger sells generally good stuff.
I had an MSD in an E body.
It stranded me one time.
Running a stock distributor.
What do you do when your are far , far from home and and gremlins happen in an aftermarket system?
After that I ran that car with auxiliary wiring to a orange box for back up.
But that was over 20 years ago.
Have things improved?
IDK

Just my opinion and experience and that’s all. I have MSD on both of my cars and so far over 8 years there has not been any problems at all. Starting is easy, engines run better and plugs last longer etc....just my experience and that’s all.

Is my ignition wire missing or is this brown one it? I thought they were supposed to be yellow?

The white connectors in the 2nd pic look like they are for the ballast resistor that mounts on the firewall. Year One sells the harness made by American Autowire. The instructions say that they use the high energy single wire alternator and their harness does not support the stock alternator gage. I ordered one last week but they are on perpetual backorder.

I think your yellow wire has turned brown.
Looks to be the right length for the starter relay.
You can find a schematic and cavity assignment to be sure or just try it see if the relay clicks.

I could of sworn the package for my harness said m&h or something like that but it's been a few years since it was purchased. Plan on doing a "fleet bypass "(I think that's what it's called) so just need it fire up for now.

That's what I was thinking but wasn't sure. Been so long since I took it apart lol.

You do not need to buy a dual ballast resistor if you don’t have a 5-pin ECU. Read this article and look at this picture. Single ballast resistor with one side of the dual-prong connectors hooked up.

That was a great article! Good info. Thank you. I was able to find and install a a dual ballast anyway and trace the ignition wire and it cranks! My next step is plug wires and hopefully spark
