The PO gave me this K-frame and 440 4bbl, 727 with the car.

Before digging into this, My question is, are there any other mounting brackets I need to acquire? I assume the back of the trans will need something? Will the 6 cyl trans have a mount that can be used by the 727? Any other mounts I need?

I don't know exactly what will swap from the /6 K member, but get some bigger torsion bars. Upper and lower control arms, strut rods, and a lot of stuff will probably swap, but if you want to add a sway bar you will need to add sway bar tabs to the lower control arms and obtain a sway bar.

Those 2 photos were with your original post. Looks like a 66-67 K member. Not that it really matters. Idler arm would be the only difference on 66-69.

What car do you have?
In most cases, the B body could have one of three K members.
* Slant six.
* 426 HEMI
* ALL other V8s.
The engine has specific brackets that look like this:

The steering linkage will be the same.
Transmissions came in 3 bell housing patterns.

* Slant six...These could have had a 904 or 727.
* A/LA/Magnum series 273-318-340-360 also available with 904 or 727.
* B/RB series 350-361-383-400-413-426W 426 HEMI and 440. 727 only.
The transmissions do NOT interchange.
Depending on the year of your car, the transmission crossmember from a 6 cylinder model may or may not work with the 727.

When I was a kid I put a 440 in a 74 charger that originally had 318. Of course besides the bb trans. I used 400 bb motor mounts it also needed a different oil pan.

Big thanks guys! Forgive me, I have updated my signature and deleted the duplicated pics. I am not a real mechanical guy but I did tune ups and headers in the 70s and 80s.

This is a 1970 Satellite with a 6 cylinder in it now, the engine is sitting under my front porch right now. So I want to order parts so this engine swap can go forward. This is all I know, came to me in pieces from PO who gave up on doing more.

I'd find a 70 or even a 68-69 K-frame. The one you have is a 66-67 frame. That looks like is might be a truck motor. Do have pics of the water pump, mounts and oil pan?

Thanks moparmarks! I think I got everything you wanted, let me know for more

It turns over freely by hand (between compression strokes)
Oil in engine and trans look good

Looks like you will need a B body tail housing on the transmission. The water pump housing would make for better hookup if it was changed. Probably going to need oil pan as mentioned and proper motor mounts. But it looks to be a steel crank 440.

Okay the 440 is from a motorhome. You'll need a B-body oil pan, pickup and dip stick. Will also need the mounting brackets like what Kern Dog showed. Will also need a car water pump housing with the lower hose on the left side. It is a forged crank motor which is good.

The engine # is J440TX+ where the plus sign (+) looks like an Iron Cross, below that is 4 19 2 with spacing just like this.

The 2 is spaced out a bit from above as shortened by the site's computer.

Is my 66-67 k frame unusable to me? If so why? is the 67 prior to 68 after b-body different?

So I just sell this one and buy another?

No you can use it. You just need to change the idler arm to a 66-67 style which isn't as good as the 68-70 style. Also it will use smaller steering box bolts as the 68-70.
Also 70 uses a different sway bar than 66-69 is that matters. May be easier to use the one you have versa finding a 70 one which is a "one year only" K-frame.
I bought two 72 Road Runners in Paducah years ago.

moparmarks, I am going with a 318, would your answers be any different?
