Hello friends, my 65 Coronet 727 automatic is leaking around kick down linkage. Replaced seals. the shaft seems to have access play. How can I fix this?
Hey, when I change the oil in filter, and add new oil 15w 40 would some zinc additive and send Marvel Mystery Oil, it doesn't get oil pressure for 10 minutes on the restart. I have to start it, shut it off started shut it off many times before I get oil pressure. And I do add oil to the filter, and it's during the warm days so the oils not cold when I add it. Someone told me that I'm losing my Prime but I want to be able to change the world without going through this hassle. I've had the car for a year and I'm change the oil twice and it did it both times. I also unplugged the coil wire so it would not start right away and just crank over the engine thinking that might get oil pressure started. Next time I change the oil oh, I'm going to put 10-30 oil in. Okay guys let me know. Thank you.
You might have seen this before because I put it in for Wecome Wagon not knowing how to do this since I'm a new member for this

In regards to the oil pressure. What you describe matches either a worn oil pump or a restriction on the suck side. Knowing these engines, if yours is old or original the pickup may be stuffed full of broken nylon timing gear teeth.

Try a different brand of filter.

On the trans leak you really need to identify the true leak... Last post you talked about the cable and the kick down lever... Now your back to the lever.... Accept typically the lever doesn't leak or at least not till the car has sat awhile & the convertor has drained back... The kick down lever seal sits above the normal fluid level..... Often the true leak is the rear band anchor & the fluid runs down on the edge of the pan & drips near the shifter/kickdown lever location...
Like I said you really need to identify the true leak.... And trust me it can be a PITA..

Reconsider the cable shift seal. It tends to leak when sitting for an extended period, per previous poster.

Forgot to mention when it does start after changing the oil and that finally get oil pressure a reading on my gauge is 75 lb

those two seals. kickdown and cable are a PITA. I drove those models in the 60's, and they leaked there all the time.Lol

your engine oil pump is sucking air some where. If its a big block , check the pump to block gasket If small block may be a cracked pick up pipe

Could be the bypass is sticking. U could try cleaning it. Or put on a new pump. Also there is a washer type seal that goes under the manual shaft seal to take the slop out of the valve body shifter shaft. It’s like putting a washer on to a bolt. They come in a 3 pack from EBay. Kim

also, 80lbs oil pressure is too high. you can remove and adjust the spring inside the pump to lower the pressure. Sometimes the pump is pulling too much oil too quickly out of a pan with no windage tray, causing the guage to not work right, creating a n air pocket, per previous post. It is also a sign the pump may be malfunctioning. I would replace that. On a 383 it is easy.

Oil pressure is 75ish at cold start up. What should it be? It has 35 40 at idle when hot

75 seems high but I can’t see how that would cause an issue. Or be a sign of one. Sounds like the bypass spring is pretty stiff.
