When ordering parts I am asked if it is a base or Sport, all of the trim and interior has been removed so a look at a pic of the car will not help.

It has RH23 for the first part of the vin meaning "R" is for Belvedere/Satellite,"H" is for High and 23 = 2 door hardtop
It also has H2X9 for Trim Grade/Style/Color, H is High, 2= Vinyl Bench, X9 is black

It is how they categorized the cars according to trim levels;

RL (low) = Belvedere
RM (medium) = Road Runner
RH (High) = Satellite
RP (Premium) = Sport Satellite
RS (Special) = GTX

Now we all think of Road Runners as being "special" or above a Satellite but back in the day this is not how Plymouth viewed it, it was a cheap "kids" car (Hemi cars notwithstanding). In general the Road Runner was stripped down whereas the Satellite had more chrome, woodgrain, etc.

What does "High" mean ? It means how I spent many days during my youth.

“H” or high trim class is the trim level of the base Satellite. That is not a bad thing tho, it’s still a high trim class. Yes, Sport Satellite has a higher trim class, and it is a little more rare because not as many people paid up for more trim, and the Satellite and Sport satellite were available with the same available options, so you’re not losing out here!

Today everyone is concerned with codes and numbers but back in the day no one gave a crap, I'd buy a satellite as quick as I would a RR because I knew I was going to hot rod it, perhaps put RR stickers on it and call it a RR as well. But the "collectors", auction houses, etc. have jack this up 6 ways to Sunday.

Your Satellite came down the same line as a Road Runner, Sport Satellite and GTX, it started life EXACTLY in the same fashion, a raw shell and then a pile of crap was added to make it into what ever it was sold as. Unfortunately the hobby has become less about the cars and more about egos; who has what, what numbers are on it, does it or doesn't it have a fender tag and/or build sheet; all nonsense.

I am very happy being called "high class" here :)
(car is in the sellers garage here)
