I've got a 73 dual snorkel with a black replacement lid plus I have a rusted Direct Connection piece I'll be sand blasting.

It would be nice to go to Lowes or Wally's and find something real close.

Wally's in particular has a very wide selection of Krylon and a few others.

I heard that the closest (emphasize heard) that it was some name brand tractor paint (alyce chalmers sp?) available at tractor supply.
The details are hazy, info was long ago and far away, lol.
Heck, there's about five different shades of chevrolet orange, depending on which brand. One of them should be close.
Do you have an original to color match?

VHT Hemi Orange. Sold at Oreillys/Advance and AutoZone.

It should be closer to EK2 than EV2 (but still a different shade). Not as dark as Hemi orange engine paint and not race Hemi orange either, although that might get you close.

EDIT: I found a post where someone claimed that Plasticoat #226 is a perfect match.

Nevermind, discontinued in 2019. The A12 guys say their air cleaner lid should match the orange rubber in a Fram air filter, that may get you close.

That is exactly what i was gonna say!
Happened to be in tractor supply today. Looks like kubota orange is closer than alyce chalmers. A/c is too red.

The research i did says that there were four (at least!) oranges used on mopar engines.
1. Race hemi orange. Very yellow orange, used on maxwedge and 64,65 race hemis.
2. 66/67 hemi orange. I think used on street hemis only in those years. Redish orange.
3. 68 up hemi orange, used on 383, 440, and hemi (and some small blocks, but i xont know anything about them. Supposed to be more red in the orange than the 66/67 version.
4. Aircleaner orange. Rumored to be a match to a fram element orange.
All of the above is what i have found, DOES NOT MAKE IT CORRECT!
As an aside, my unrestored air cleaner lid for my a12 is a very different shade than the original hemi orange on the engine.

69/70 lids and the newer complete orange cleaner assemblies are supposed to match what was Fram orange at the time.

What I found was Duplicolors Hemi Orange, which is NOT correct for engine colour IS damn close to correct for the lids and cleaner assemblies...

Aircleaner/lid should be a lighter shade than the correct '69/'70 HP engine colour.

Only one is called Hemi Orange.. up here at least...

BTW, these are ALL shots of the same correct looking lid using different camera settings. One of the worst colours to photograph..

Looks like both Advance and O'Reily's have Duplicolor 1652 in stock.

Thanks everyone.

Let us know how it sprays out. I’m guessing that 1622 will have less red in it, but who knows.

Close is what I'm after but I at least wanted to make an effort.

Hemi orange is generally a pretty red orange. I would bet that the 1622 will be closer. You want a real orange, not too redish, not too yellowish.
