My lovely wife bought me a new compressor for my birthday. She knew that I wanted one and I now know that she pays attention when I do my research.
I am a lucky man.

Happy Birthday, mister...did someone forget to post about it here?

I did a lot of research, but I would love to hear what members that have big shops think about the IR. I would have loved a Quincy, but they are really pricey.

Great wife!! I’ve had my IR for about 25 years, still runs great, it keeps up with my bead blaster. I use their maintenance kit, change the oil every couple of years. Don’t forget to drain the tank, you’d be surprised how much water it takes on on a humid day. The same specs as yours just an older model.

I picked this up today, it's a regulator, filter and lubricator. I am going to plumb the shop next time I am home, and I will install it. The maintenance is recommended every 2000 hours, is that about right?

That’s an interesting thought, mount an hour meter to it when you wire it. I doubt if it has that many hours on it when I change the oil.

If you have a bead blaster, don't provide lubrication to it. A water separator would be good before a bead blaster also.

I probably won't have that many hours on it when I die. LOL
Do you recommend once a year?

Wouldn’t hurt anything to change it once a year, I change mine every couple of years, but it’s inside a somewhat climate controlled shop.

Boy you got her fooled!

Nice gift for sure. IRs are good compressors. I think they are all getting like lawn mowers. One company makes most of the parts now days.

You sir have a great woman.... Congratulations on your new compressor... I agree Curtis is good but a US made IR is not a bad thing either....

No bead blaster, and that setup has a water separator. It will mostly just be used for air tools, for both my Mopars and my Kenworth. That is why I wanted such a large compressor, to feed a 1/2" line for my 1 inch impact.
