Decades ago I ripped open a spray can of paint. What I believed to be a round metal ball inside to aid mixing the paint while shaking the can turned out to be a short, half-inch section of a closed coil spring.

This week I performed the same surgery to find a small round ball, albeit plastic.

Yea, I get bored at work also. I'd say that 90% of the spray cans I dissect are glass marbles and 10% are steel balls.

Don't you hate it when you're trying to buy a can of spray paint in the self checkout and the paint "police" show up.
 
I opened dozens and dozens of old paint cans at work, they all had clear blue marbles. I gave them to my kids by the handful.
