So, since I can't get parts to build my engine, I'm going to get my trans built, and sorted this year.
My question is
What needs to be done to a 727 so it will hold up behind a 600 hp engine? I know I need a bolt in sprag, and either the red, or blue clutches. Anything else? Thanks.

Shift kit, deeper pan, trans cooler, and a scattershield or blanket.

Aluminum or billet direct (front) clutch retainer. CSI carbon fiber shield may be the best choice.

Bolt in sprang is a must , kolene steels, Kevlar bands, alto clutches, different ratio servo arm, billet servos, there is a lot to make one bullet proof! I have that all done to mine and it’s worth it. I recommend calling : A&A, Cope, Kieth at 727 specialist will all point you in the right direction. I’ve used all three and it’s a win with them all! Good luck ! A flite is the best trans and it’s nice to work with..

I bracket raced for 20+ years with 727's that I built myself and 550-600 HP with a stock sprag and a stock front clutch drum, good bands & clutches and mostly Cheetah valve bodies. However an upgrade sprag and a billet drum are sure a good plan. My current motor is about 700 HP in a heavy car. I have a Cope 727 in it. I think the parts Cope uses are great, I have used Cope parts for a few customers 727's. The correct combination of the parts is the key.
