Anyone still rebuilding starters etc?

Why buy a cheap Chinese knock off when you can rebuild your American or oem one for little in parts and have something more reliable .. there is a difference at least the nippendenso are reliable and inexpensive, china ones are cheap but going to cost ya !
Most of the time you are rebuilding with cheap Chinese junk anyway.

Oh contraire.....I use NOS Mopar parts, available on line, eBay, Mopar swap meets, etc. When shopping, use Mopar part numbers for your particular item needed....not the description. Many vendors offering Mopar stuff know exact inventory application, but, just as many non-Mopar vendors have no clue as to what their selling....its up to you to know the differences......

That is a good way to do it or know for sure what you are buying. My friend the starter rebuilder showed me some of the differences. His point was if he bought all quality parts there still was no room for his labor. As most go cheap and source the junk on line.

I'm rebuilding or restoring for myself and use NOS Mopar parts or proven quality name brands such as Standard Motor Products. I attend swap meets, National meets (Mopar Nats, Mopars at Carlisle, Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise, etc.) and deal with known vendors with my shopping list with part numbers and if I need/want the part, I'll buy it, cost not withstanding. I'm not cost driven, but this is just me. Just my opinion of course.

I don’t use China parts ... especially not on critical things, and my old cars it must be right. It takes more effort but it’s out there. My Personal cars and trucks get OE or better! No questions asked I have great contacts all over and utilize them as needed. My local dealer says I’m his best non commercial customer, I get wholesale or a tad better and my service is above and beyond, I treat my friends stuff like mine too... You can do it right the first time and yes it may cost more but it sure beats doing it twice.
