While upgrading the drum to disc brakes on my charger I accidentally bent one of the ears while tightening one of the cam bolts that secures the upper A arm.

Anyone here know where I can take this to have it fixed? I’m in San Jose CA.

Or tap it lightly with a small ball peen hammer until its straight.

Looks to tight on space to hit with any kind of hammer and it’s too thick to pull with pliers or vice grips but if you can find someone to borrow a big slide hammer from I think you can reach in through that access hole and hook over it and bring it back fairly easily

That's the only option I can think of..... unless you want to heat it.... and that's an option I'm not too crazy about.

Thanks for the info, but I’ve tried vise grips and a small hammer but there isn’t enough room to get a good swing using hammer and vise grips aren’t strong enough. I even tried using C clumps but they aren’t strong enough and I’ve bent the ones I’ve tried.

How in the world did you accomplish that feat? That is a stout piece of metal, it’s not going to bend back easily. Slide hammer will just pop off and beat things up.

not paying attention where the washer was located when tightening the nut.

:(

Did it bend the same piece on the other side also? They have them on both ends of the bolt.

just the one side. I wasn’t paying close enough attention to where the washer was located in passenger side. Washer was on top of the inwards facing ear when I tightened the nut on the upper A arm bolt.

now I feel like a nut!

Did you put the Vise Grip jaws on the retaining shoulder and the bolt/nut and squeeze a little at a time? Tightening the VG screw each time. Not trying to pull the shoulder all at once. Remember you have a ton of grip there!
